The apparent lack of interest in creative writing and literary appreciation by the present day youths seem to be bothering the elites of the old and the ageing.
The just reconstituted Board of Trustees of the Nigerian Book Foundation is saddled with the responsibility of reawakening the culture of writing.
Nigerian Book Foundation, a Non Governmental, Non Profit making Book Development Organization was founded in 1991 and became operational in 1993.
According to Prof Ike, the foundation came into being to promote the development of an indigenous book industry, encourage and promote authorship of books for use in institutions of learning.
He said there is a dire need for Nigerians to embrace creativity and aspire to be creative at all times.
Professor Ike disclosed that the foundation has mapped out series of programmes and events for secondary schools to promote learning.
The re-instituted Board, also has Professor Chinyere Okunna as Co-President and the traditional ruler of Obosi, Igwe Chidubem Iweka, Mr. Sule Momodu of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Dr. Obidike Maduako, and Mr. Wilson Moneme as members.
