The State House of Assembly Committee on Public Account has directed Local Government Authorities, Ministries and Parastatals to desist from using pencil in recording their financial transactions.

The Committee gave the directive when Ogbaru Local Government Council appeared before it to defend the projects they executed in2017.

The Committee which spoke through its Chairman, Mr Charles Ezeani, stressed the need for Ministries, Parastatals and Local Government Authorities to put in practice the acceptable way of preparing public account to encourage transparency and accountability.

In a speech, the Head of Local Government Administration, Ogbaru Local Government Area, Mr Chris Ugwummadu, expressed gratitude to the Committee for living up to their oversight responsibility, assuring that they would carry out their directives.

The Committee equally looked into the financial transaction of Ayamelum Local Government Authority in accordance with thé law, after which it directed the Local Government Authority to submit details of all the projects it executed in 2017, the year under review to them in their next meeting.
