It was indeed  jubilation at St John’s  Special Science and Technical College, Alor,as the four students of the School who won Bronze Medals at the just concluded International Festival of Engineering, Science and Technology I-FEST,held in Tunisia arrived the School Compound.

The four students, Ugwuishi Meshack Ogonna, from  Nsukka, Chukaumeora OnyedikaAnthony, from Akpo, Machi Dominic Chiagozie, from Omor and Nwachukwu Daniel Chukwualuka from Nnewi, accompanied by their manager,Reverend Father Francis Unegbu were received on arrival by the Principal of the school Mr Samuel Otuba, members of Old Boys Association and other friends and  well wishers of the school.

In his speech, the President St John’s college Alor Old Boys Association Doctor Cyprian Afunugo, commended the team and their manager for conquering the world, and  carving a niche for themselves and also placing the college at the front burner in the eyes of the International community.

Also speaking, the Chairman Mathematics and Science Competition Panel Sir Austine Okeke, said he was confident that the boys having emerged tops during the states and National Competition, would come back with admirable laurels.

Others who spoke including Messers Don Onyenji, the National Publicity Secretary of the Old Boys Association,Dr Damian Onyechi, Mr Cyril Nwadinobi and former Principal of the College Chief Nnamdi Okoye, expressed Joy that the boys conquered the world.   

The team manager Reverend  Father Francis Unegbu who narrated thier experiences during the contest, thanked Archbishop of Onitsha most Reverend Dr.Valerian Okeke for his prayers and support, while also thanking the education friendly Governor Obiano for providing the enabling environment.    

The Principal of the school Mr Samuel Otuba in an interview,said more effort will be expended to produce more talented students who will excel in their Various vocations.   

Recall that the competition was a festival of science and technology innovation among school children of eleven and twenty four years who were given opportunity to bring innovation into the world of technology.

About thirty one countries entered the competition with over two hundred and fifty one projects vetted and judged.

The students later demonstrated their innovation before the members of the school Old Boys Association.
