The Anambra State House of Assembly has passed à resolution congratulating wife of the State Governor, Dr. Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano on the conferment of 2019 Women of Excellence Award on her, in United States of America, for her sterling contributions to the success of the Obiano administration.
The resolution was sequel to a motion sponsored to that effect by Honourable Nkoli Mmegbuanaeze, representing Idemmili North Constituency during yesterday’s plenary.
Moving the motion, Honourable Mmegbuanaeze explained that Dr. Mrs Obiano has through her pet project, Caring Family Enhancement Initiative trained and empowered thousands of indigent women, Widows, youths in various skills, thereby giving them source of livelihood and enablement to sustain their families.
In their separate remarks, the member representing Idemili South Constituency, Honourable Chuka Ezenwune and his Orumba North Constituency counterpart, Honourable Romanus Obi, testified that many of their constituents have benefited from Mrs Obiano’s pet projects and described the award as a big honour to Anambra State.
In their reactions, the member representing Ayamelum Constituency, Honorable Uchenna Okafor, his Njikoka one counterpart, Dr. Timothy Ifedioramma, the member representing Awka South One Constituency, Dr. Nnamdi Okafor and Mr Chidi Udemmadu, representing Ihiala Two
Constituency, thanked Mrs Obiano for providing free Housing scheme for many widows as well as contributing to the eradication of open defecation through the construction of modern toilets in rural markets across the state.
Speaker of the House, Mrs Rita Maduagwu, described the award as well deserved and read out the resolution of the House.
Also at plenary, the House passed another resolution directing the Management of Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB, to correct the retirement age of Mrs. Rose Odinammadu to take effect from thirty first December 2016 which was the date she would have
clocked thirty five years in service instead of 1st July 2016 and pay all her accruable emoluments between first July 2016 and thirty first December 2016.
The House directed the Head of service, Anambra State to cause the appropriate government agency to grant Mrs Odinammadu her deserved promotion with effect from 1st July 2016 and pay her the accruable benefits arising there from within one month from the date of resolution of the House on the matter.
It also directed same Head of Service to notify them within one month of receipt of the resolution to confirm compliance.
The House passed the resolution following a petition brought to them by Mrs Odinammadu, which was presented to the House by Honourable Chuka Ezenwune, the Chairman, House Committee on Petitions and Conflict Resolution
