State government is to collaborate with police in the state to enforce ban on street trading.

The State Commissioner of Police Mr Mustapha Dandaura made this known when he played host to the Managing Director, Anambra State Traffic Management Agency , ATMA, Mr Chris Uzoechina who paid him a visit at his office at the Police Headquarters, Amawbia.

Receiving the ATMA boss, Mr Dandaura said they will equally liaise with other agencies like the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Police Traffic Division to enforce the ban for the purposes of saving lives.

Mr Dandaura wondered why people will abandon markets in various parts of the state and choose to trade along the streets and highways saying that such acts can no longer be tolerated.

He appealed to state government to help the police in ensuring that the ban is enforced.

Speaking earlier, the ATMA boss Mr Uzoechina said government is very serious about enforcing the ban as it can no longer allow loss of lives to road crashes due to negligence by some individuals.

He assured that government will give the police necessary support needed to actualise the aim within the shortest possible time.
