People with diverse political opinions from across socio-economic and cultural strata of Nigeria, over the weekend gathered to pay tribute to late Icon, Dr Dozie Ikedife in his country home Nnewi, Anambra state.
The day of tribute which was organized by the Ikedife family, attracted Government functionaries, Captains of Industry, the Academia and Traditional Rulers among others.
The Minister for Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonaya Onu, the Senator Representing Anambra South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Andy Ubah, Anambra State Chief of staff, Mr. Primus Odili, the wife of the late Igbo Leader, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, the former Governors of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi and Dame Virgi Etiaba, were among the dignitaries that graced the occasion.
Most of the speakers on the occasion, described the late Dozie Ikedife as a true leader with noble character who always stood for the right.
They canvassed that the Late Icon be immortalized, calling on the family especially the wife Mrs. Christi Ikedife to take solace in her late husband’s achievements .
In their separate speeches, the Anambra state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. C-Don Adinuba and his Agriculture, Mechanization, Processing and Export counterpart, Mr. Afam Mbanefo, noted that the exit of Late Dr. Ikedife has created a big vacuum in his community, the state and Nigeria at large.
They called for the younger generation to live a life of purpose by making positive impact towards improving the standards of living of people living around them as according to them such will contribute towards national development.
Others who spoke while paying their tribute included the YPP Presidential candidate in the just concluded general polls, and a former Deputy Governor of the CBN, Professor Kingsley Moghalu, former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Ikechukwu Obiora and the traditional ruler of Ojoto, Igwe Gerald Mbamalu.
They shared their personal experiences with the late former Ohaneze President, noting that Late Ikedife impacted life through community service calling on the people to follow his footsteps.
In a vote of thanks, the son of the late Icon, Dozie Ikedife junior, while appreciating those that attended the event for honoring their father, assured of upholding the good legacies of their late father for the interest of their family, community, the state and Nigeria.
