A new Commissioner for Girls’ Brigade has been installed in Anambra state.
She is Mrs Caroline Adi, a native of Agulu, in Anaocha Local Government Area.
Mrs Adi served as ASUBEB Secretary and a Headmistress at Community Primary School, Nri, before her retirement from service.
Speaking during the Installation and Induction of new officers of the Brigade at Saint Stepheris Church Agulu, the Chaplain of the Brigade and Archdeacon, Oba Archdeaconry, Venerable Dave Udo-Ezika, explained that Brigade is not a secret cult group, but group devoted to service of God and humanity.
Venerable Udo-Ezika, represented by the Archdeacon, Agulu group of Churches, Venerable Silas Ike said Brigade is a nondenominational Christian group, aimed at imparting good morals in girls of different age brackets.
He called on mothers to encourage and allow their children and words to identify with the group for them to stand tall above their contemporaries.
Performing the installation and induction of the officers, Venerable Udo-Ezika, advised the new Commissioner to remain committed to taking the group to greater heights.
According to him, the newly elected officers should teach the girls to be true disciples of Jesus Christ, work in tandem with them and also lead exemplary life.
The out-going Commissioner, Mrs Amaka Uchegbu while presenting the in-coming Commissioner and other officers, said that she was elected with others not to be servants unto man, but unto God, promote peace, unity and co-operate with others to achieve more.
Responding on behalf of the new officers, Mrs Adi thanked God for her new office and promised to discharge her duty with the fear of God.
