Anambra State government says its attention has been drawn to constant destruction of boundary monuments put in place to bring lasting peace to dispute in communities across the State.
A statement endorsed by the Executive Secretary State Boundary Committee Chief Emma Nwokoye for the Deputy Governor and Chairman of the Committee Dr Nkem Okeke decried the destruction of boundary monuments erected along the boundary between Igbariam and Nando communities in Anambra East Local Government Area by some miscreants, warning that government can no longer fold its arms and watch such acts of rascality capable of causing breach of peace and injury to human life.
According to the statement, government’s peaceful disposition should not be misconstrued as weakness, as it will not hesitate to invoke the full weight of the law on such perpetrators, adding that security agencies have been adequately mobilized to deal decisively with anybody or group caught in the act.
It urged Community leaders and concerned stakeholders, especially in Communities where government has erected boundary monuments to sensitize their people on the need to desist forthwith in destroying boundary monuments.
The statement maintained that the Obiano administration is committed to effective security of lives and property as well as peaceful co-existence amongst various communities across the State.
