The State House of Assembly has passed à bill for a law to provide for the revision, printing and publication of the revised laws of Anambra State.
The bill which is sponsored by the Executive Arm of Government, was presented to the House by the Deputy Majority leader, Chief Paschal Agbodike and was considered at the Committee of the whole during yesterday’s plenary.
The Anambra State Laws Revision Bill will enable à committee set up by Governor Willie Obiano to compile all the laws that are relevant in the state into à booklet so that the people can have access to the laws of the state.
After clause by clause consideration of the Bill, Speaker of the House, Mrs. Rita Maduagwu read out the Bill, while members of the House supported it through à voice vote.
Commenting on the Bill after it was passed, the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Culture and Tourism, Honourable Kingsley Iruba and his Njikoka One Constituency counterpart, Dr. Timothy Ifedioramma emphasized that the Bill will capture all the relevant laws made for the good governance of Anambra State from nineteen nine till date.
Also at plenary, the House passed à motion urging Governor Willie Obiano to direct the Commissioner for Works and the Chairman of Anambra Tenders Board to as a matter of exigency produce and submit to Anambra State Executive Council the report of revised estimated total cost (RETC) of Awgbu -Amaetiti -Okpeze -Ndiukwuenu road for approval to enable the contractor go back to site.
The member representing Onumba North Constituency, Chief Romanus Obi who sponsored the motion emphasized that revised estimated total cost of the road project is the reason for the delay in the completion of the project and there is need to approve the RETC to the contracting firm to enable them complete the project.
