Three days to Easter celebration, Catholic Faithful in Awka Diocese trooped out en mass to celebrate the 2019 Cathedraticum at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral Awka.

The mass which was presided over by the Bishop of Awka Diocese Most Revered Paulinus Ezeokafor assisted by other Priests and Reverend Sisters from different congregations,
featured rededication of priestly vows by all the Priests in Awka Diocese.

Blessing of the three different oil for activities in the Diocese which are oil for the sick, oil for the Catechumen and oil for the chrism featured at the event.

In a homily, Most Revered Ezeokafor said as Catholics they should hold onto their faith as false prophesies have taken over the world urging them to be careful and defend their faith anywhere they are.

He called for proper training of the children by parents so as to raise people of valour who in future, will bring peace and sanity in the society and lamented the high rate of crime and loss of moral values in the society especially increasing killings of human beings. .

Most Revered Ezeokafor said that he is supporting politicians who go to court to seek for the restoration of their mandate, noting that judiciary as the last hope for the common man will help to restore sanity and correct some anomalies made during the elections.

He condemned the activities of some herders who go about killing innocent people because of animals , stating that life is sacred and must be cherished, nurtured and preserved, even as he said that ranching is the solution to the incessant clashes between herdsmen and farmers .

Among those present at the mass were, Knights and ladies of the church and students from mission schools among others.

Blessing of the oil, prayers and paying of homage to the Bishop among other things featured at the mass.
