The Catholic Bishop of Nnewi Diocese Most Reverend Hilary Okeke has called on Christians to throw away their old way of life and adapt to a new way of life in Christ.

Delivering an Easter message in his office at Assumption Cathedral Nnewi, most Reverend Okeke said the solemnity of the resurrection of Jesus Christ reminds Christians of their baptism which means being born again.

Most Reverend Okeke advised Christians not to combine their faith with idol worship, or get involved in any culture and tradition that would be in contrast with their faith.

Quoting the book of first Corinthians, where St Paul said that imitation of Christ is following Christ, living and acting as Christ did, the Bishop urged the people to act like Christ.

He made it clear that new life in Christ does not reject traditions and customs completely, except the traditions and cultural practices that are evil and connected with idolatry.

The Prelate who wished all Christians a peaceful and spirit filled Easter celebration, urged them to continue living for Christ even after the Easter celebration.
