The Traditional Ruler of Ojoto, Idemili South Local Government, Igwe Gerald Mbamalu has commissioned a three-point- five kilometer St Barnabas Road.
The road now renamed after the moniker of the traditional ruler, “Eze Oranyelu Road” is a community self help project, which cost over sixty-five million naira.
The road project was initiated by the Ojoto South Development Union, the community association that covers Ojoto Obo-ofia quarters, under the umbrella Ojoto Akanasato Union, OAU.
The three point five kilometer road that terminates at the community’s boundary with Oba Community is a spur to the popular Mmiri John road, and took less than four months to be completed.
Speaking to the press after commissioning the road, Igwe Mbamalu highlighted the importance of communities to partner government to achieve holistic infrastructural development.
The President General of the Community, Dr Edwin Umeghalu and the President of Ojoto South Development Union, Chief Chukwudi Maduabum explained that they were driven by the need to bring integrated development to the community and to complement the efforts of the State Government.
Earlier, the first woman Rector of Federal Polytechnic Oko, Engineer Dr Francisca Nwafulugo, also an indigene of the community commended the traditional ruler and other leaders of the
community for identifying and providing the immediate and direct needs of the town.
With the completion of the road, the community has now set a trajectory for joint effort in developing infrastructural projects in the community as they have also benefitted from the first and second phases of the community choose your project initiative.
