Five priests were over the weekend installed Canons and one Canon collated a Venerable by the Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese, Right Reverend Alexander Ibezim.
The service which took place at the Cathedral Church of Saint Faith Awka, drew Bishops, other members of the Clergy, Knights and Ladies of the church, Anglican faithful, friends and well wishers to the event.
Right Reverend Ibezim told the Priests that their new positions call for humility, persistent prayers and service to God and humanity, while they should always re-examine their lives to know if they are still in faith and posses the qualities expected of a Priest.
Bishop Ibezim noted that people are looking at the characters, integrity and personality of a preacher and therefore ensure that what they preach reflects in their lives so as to give the world undiluted message of God to convert and draw them closer salvation .
In a sermon, the retired Bishop, Diocese of Isukwuato-Umunochi, Right Reverend Sam Chukwuka who drew his message from, “the church matches on” said that the priests have been exposed to greater responsibilities and should renew their relationship with God and one another as well as sustaining be careful not to lead the flock under their care astray.
Right Reverend Chukwuka who was the Retreatant during the retreat that preceded the installation, stated that God has given them authority to make disciples and charged them to use their time, treasure and talent to work for Christ.
In their separate speeches, Venerable Christian Nkem-Okafor and Reverend Canon Charles Chukwurah on behalf of the newly collated and installed Venerable and Canons , thanked God for the elevation noting that God who called then will strengthen and equip their Ministry for his service.
The Priests swore an oat of canonical obedience, allegiance to God and oath against homosexuality and bisexuality.
Special rendition by the choir, installation and collation added glamour to the service.
