Old Boys of Oraukwu Grammar School recently gathered their friends, and family members to felicitate with them as their alma mater marks her sixtieth anniversary.
The event began with a church service where the Old Boys offered thanksgiving to God for his grace and love over the years.
The Bishop on the Niger, Rt. Reverend Dr. Owen Nwokolo, in his sermon, maintained that the purpose of establishing the school by the church was to help build a society where fear of God and love for humanity will be the watch words.
Bishop Nwokolo commended the old boys for their contributions towards ensuring sustainable development in the school.
On their part, the National President of Oraukwu Grammar School Old Boys Association, Chief Vincent Ananti and the Keynote Speaker, Justice Okechukwu Okeke who is also an old boy, assured that the association will continue to do its best for the school. They called on government to augment their efforts to help restore the dignity of the school.
In their separate remarks, the National Vice president of the Old Boys Association Dr Obiora Chukwuka and another member of the Old Boys Engineer Simon Ukpaka who shared their experiences with the school noted that they always support the school calling on students to be obedient and law abiding for them to get the best out of the school.
Earlier in his Address, the Principal of the school Reverend Canon Isaac Onwuene expressed delight over the continuous progress being recorded by the school, noting that the school will rise to an enviable height if this level of development is sustained.
Others who spoke during the occasion including the President General of Nnokwa Progress Union, Sir Joe Uchendu and Emmanuel Emelugo who also is a member of the old boys, lauded the initiative.
The event climaxed with the Commissioning of Enemo Hostel rebuilt by National Vice President of the Old Boys Dr Obiora Chukwuka, and the renovated Ekpunobi Hostel.
The member representing Idemili South in the State House of Assembly, Honorable Chuka Ezenwune, commissioned the projects, supported by Igwe Emeka Onuorah of Oraukwu, among other old boys .
