Over one hundred students have taken matriculation vows at the third Matriculation Ceremony of Legacy University, Okija.
Legacy University, Okija, is a private institution that was approved in 2016 as a full- fledged university, with over four hundred students.
The matriculating students were celebrating a beginning of academic journey in the courses offered by the institution, including Arts, Social Sciences, Management Sciences, Natural and Applied Sciences.
Addressing the new students, Governor Willie Obiano, represented by the Commissioner for Tertiary, Science and Technology Education, Professor Theresa Obiekezie, said the university represents a strong need for the establishment of more tertiary institutions in Anambra State to accommodate the growing academic pursuits of the younger generation.
He urged the matriculating students to pursue their academic careers with diligence to encourage their parents’ and guardians’ in their struggles.
The University’s Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Doctor Leonard Nkameme, said that Legacy University, Okija is partnering ICT University, Louisiana, United States of America, which resulted in the provision of over three hundred thousand books relating to the programmes run by the University and stocked in it’s E-library.
In his address, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Gabriel Anene, reminded the new students of the institution’s ground rules including regular class attendance, shunning cultism, resistance to exam-related offences amongst others.
The member-elect, Ihiala Federal Constituency, Barrister Ifeanyi Muoma was also at the matriculation ceremony, while the new students were administered the University’s oath of allegiance.
