The Anambra State Police Command, says it has arrested a total of two hundred and sixty four suspects for various criminal activities in the state, within the month of April

The State’s Commissioner of Police, Mr Mustapha Dandaura, disclosed this while briefing the press on the exploits of the command within the month under review.

Parading the suspects, CP Dandaura gave names of the suspects as one Chigbo Aniegbu, a suspected main kingpin in the murder of the late President General of Nimo, Chief Frank Anthony Igboka, and Ikechukwu Emile, suspected of kidnapping and killing the eighty-five year old Pa Iloanusi, father to former Super Eagles Player, Chikelu, in 2014.

Also arrested was Chidubem Umealu, of Ububa Nkpor, who has been on police wanted list for serial cult related killings including the killing of one Arinze Uzoegbu in 2018.

Exhibits recovered from the suspects include, two AK Forty-Seven riffles, one Berretta pistol, two double barrel guns, two revolver pistol, two fabricated guns, two toy guns, one hundred and sixty live ammunition of seven point six two millimeter and many others including electronic gadgets.

Some of the suspects that spoke to the ABS however denied their involvement in the alleged crimes.

Chigbo Aniegbu, suspected of killing the late Nimo PG, admitted that he was with the perpetrators but denied being involved.

Chidubem on his part, claimed he does not know the reason for his arrest since he was arrested where he was drinking in a bar while Ikechukwu Emile claimed that he is a native doctor but was implicated by one of his clients for not assisting him perpetrate evil but his claim was however countered by the Ex Super Eagles Player, Chikelu Iloanusi, who disclosed that his phone was used to call the suspect by one of the gang members.

CP Mustapha, while appreciating Governor Willie Obiano for his support to the command, assured Ndi Anambra that the state will remain the safest state in Nigeria despite isolated cases which the police and sister agencies are tackling already.

The arrested suspected cultists were mostly aged between seventeen and twenty one.
