Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Public Accounts has charged Construction Firms engaged in the rehabilitation of various erosion sites across the State to execute quality jobs.
The committee made the call while scrutinizing the activities of Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project, NEWMAP, in Anambra State.
The Chairman of the committee, Chief Charles Ezeani, commended the Obiano administration for its quick interventions in nine hundred erosion sites across the state, which has justified the confidence the people reposed in it.
The Committee after going through the activities of NEWMAP in Anambra State commended them for utilizing the funds given to them by the State Government.
On his part, the Project Co-ordinator, NEWMAP in Anambra State, Mr. Michael Ivenso, told the Committee that the Obiano administration has made conscious efforts in controlling erosion in the State by liaising with International Donor Agencies and the Federal Government to bring in the much needed interventions.
Also at the meeting, the Ministry of Environment appeared before the committee and gave details of their financial transactions in 2017.
In a vote of thanks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Emmanuel Okafor, thanked the Committee for performing its oversight responsibilities effectively.
