The National Chairman of Otu Suwakwa Igbo, and one time Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Profesor Pita Ejiofor has lauded the state House of Assembly for passing the Bill on reduction of burial expenses in the state.

The eminent scholar and foremost Igbo language and culture protagonist, who made this commendation in a press statement, expressed the hope that most unnecessary spending at funerals would now be channeled into more beneficial ventures.

Prof Ejiofor recalled that the old Anambra state, Captain Emeka Omeruah championed such fight against squander mania, with him, Ejiofor, as then Commissioner for Finance and Economic Planning.

Profesor Ejiofor further expressed the belief that the new law will eventually spread across other areas of waste, thereby conserving funds for economic development and job creation.
