The people of Aguata have been urged to promote economic growth and development through community service.

The Transition Chairman Aguata Council Area Honorable Eche Ezeibe made the call at the local government secretariat Ekwulobia on the occasion of Aguata Day Celebration.

Speaking while presenting his address, Honorable Ezeibe noted that community service makes positive impact not just on the immediate beneficiaries but to the entire state.

Speaking on the Aguata Day which is the first of its kind since the creation of the local government in 1976 and according to him will become an annual event, Honorable Ezeibe noted that the essence was to celebrate the council, it’s achievements, renew acquaintances, and appreciate some of their indigenes who have distinguished themselves in their various fields endeavors and those that have used their God given talents and endowments to better the life of people in the area.

Governor Willie Obiano who was represented by the chairman Local Government Service Commission Dr. Peter Egenti applauded the council for the initiative noting that such will encourage hardwork and dedication as according to him, it will also promote peace and unity as
well as sustaining the socio-economic, infrastructural and human capital development going on in the state.

Earlier, the chairman on the occasion Chief Titus Anagbogu while appreciating the Governor for his developmental policies which he said has affected Aguata positively called for speedy interventions to prevent erosion in the area as well as the completion of all the ongoing road projects in Aguata Council Area to promote economic activities within Aguata.

Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, the traditional ruler of Ezinifite Aguata, Igwe Chukwuma Bob Orji who expressed hope that the initiative will attract more development to the Council area, thanked the organizers of the event for making such day come to reality.

Some of the recipients of awards for their excellent public service including the Chairman Local Government service commission Dr. Peter Egenti, the Commissioner for Housing Anambra State
Engineer. Emeka Ezenwanne, Air Vice Marshal Chukwuma Mojekwu among others assured of more commitment to the service of their people.

The event which attracted government functionaries, captains of industry, traditional rulers, Presidents General of all the communities in Aguata Council Area, featured cultural displays,
masquerades of all kinds as well as cultural dances.
