APGA faithful in Orumba South Local Government Area have endorsed the second term bid of the National Chairman of the party, Chief Victor Oye, as its National Convention approaches.
The endorsement which took place at the Council Headquarters Umunze, was also used to confer special honours to Chief Oye and some APGA stalwarts, for their contributions to the progress of the party.
Among the beneficiaries were the Chief of Staff to Governor Willie Obiano, Chief Primus Odili, State Chairman of APGA, Sir Norbert Obi, as well as the member-elect for Anambra East and West Federal Constituency at the National Assembly Chief Chinedu Obidigwe.
In a welcome address, the host and Transition Committee Chairman for Orumba South Local Government Area, Chief Raymond Onyegu, said that APGA has achieved a lot as an ideal Igbo voice, adding that its present structure favours every body.
Chief Onyegu, said the leadership of Chief Oye has entrenched a growing party tradition built on equity, fair play and transparency.
In their separate remarks, the Chairman on the occasion and a pioneer Chairman of Orumba South Local Government Area, Chief Ben Oranusi, and the keynote speaker and Member Representing Orumba North and South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Chief Ben Nwankwo, said
the people of Orumba are solidly behind Chief Oye.
On her part, the Member Representing Orumba South at the State House of Assembly, Princess Nikky Ugochukwu, said the people of Orumba South will support Chief Oye at the National Convention.
Responding to the endorsement, Chief Oye re-assured the people of his drive for the party’s national growth and cohesion.
Other dignitaries at the event were former Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Chief Emeka Sibeudu, Member-elect for Orumba North and South Federal Constituency, Chief Okwudili Ezenwankwo, Member-elect for Aguata Federal Constituency, Chief Chukwuma Umeorji, as well as the Commissioner for Environment, Mr Mike Okonkwo, amongst others.
