The Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese, Right Reverend Alexander Ibezim has called on President Mohammadu Buhari to urgently address the wanton killings, kidnappings and economic difficulties in the country to save Nigeria from disintegration.

Bishop Ibezim made the call while delivering his charge at the Third Session of the Eleventh Synod of the Diocese with the theme, “The Victory That Has Overcome the World, Even Our Faith” at Saint Jude’s Church Adazi-Ani.

Right Reverend Ibezim, who lamented that more than one hundred years after the birth of modern Nigeria, the level of bloodshed is still very high with insecurity of lives and property, killings, kidnappings, assassination, and hunger, called on President Buhari to bring the country together in order to create true federalism where everyone will truly participate and work towards national growth.

He commended Governor Willie Obiano on the areas he touched lives especially, the regular payment of workers’ salaries and security of lives and property, reminding him that security needs to be tighten up once again as robbers and herdsmen attack have resurfaced in some parts of the state and assured the Governor of the their support and fervent prayers.

In his goodwill messages, the new Dean Church of Nigeria and Archbishop of Kaduna Province, Most Revered Buba Lamido spoke on the efforts of Bishop Ibezim on evangelism which he said manifested in attracting over sixty Bishops from across the country during this synod and replicating same in the lives of his priests as many of them acquired Doctorate degrees in different fields.

Others who spoke during the synod were the Archbishop of Bendel and Bishop of Esan Diocese, Most Revered Friday Imaekhai and Bishop of Ihiala Diocese, Right Reverend Professor Isreal Okoye who said that synod remind participants that they have been redeem by the blood of Christ and must overcome any life challenge as Christ has given them victory over all.

The President of the Synod later pronounced Reverend Canon Christian Kalu, Goodness Amaechi and Nehemiah Ugoagu as Venerable while Reverend Sam Ezunu, Bonny Ogaraku, Nnamdi Ajaoku, Ndubisi Ahanonu and Tim Okwuchineke were pronounced Canons.

Among the dignitaries that graced the synod were the Commissioner for Agriculture, Mechanization, Processing and Export, Mr. Afam Mbanefo, and the member elect, Awka North and South, Federal Constituency, Engr Chinedu Onwuaso among others.
