Anambra State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Redivivus Industries Limited on waste management.
The MOU which has a total value of one point one Million Dollars was signed by Governor Willie Obiano on behalf of the State Government, while the Chief Executive Officer, of Redivivus Chief Emeka Ajekwu signed on behalf of their Company.
The event was held at the Governor’s lodge, Amawbia.
In a renewed bid to enhance the waste management system as against waste movement in the State, Anambra State government has signed a memorandum of understanding with Redivivus Industries Limited.
The sharing formular for the profit is Seventy five percent for the company, twenty two percent for State and three percent for the host Community.
Redivivus is into waste recycling and management and is being engaged to construct facilities for the recycling of plastics and other waste materials.
According to Governor Obiano who expressed happiness that very bright young ndi Anambra are going into entrepreneurial endeavors, stressed that the State government is interested in the project which is important to balance the eco system of the State.
The Governor who lamented the high level of litering of plastic materials across the State, especially after rainfall, directed immediate provision of two marked bins that will contain recyclable items and ordinary waste on the other, expressing optimism that in the next two years, plastic waste materials will be eliminated in the Streets of Anambra .
Earlier, the Managing Director of Anambra Investment Promotion and Protection Agency, Mr. Jide Ikeakor disclosed that the company had already started operations in Ogbunike pointing out that they have the capacity to recycle forty metric tones of waste as at today.
Mr. Ikeakor added that the move will boost environmental sanitation, generate IGR and have already created fifty direct jobs and one hundred indirect jobs.
The Managing Director of Redivivus Industries Limited, Chief Emeka Ajekwu said that their drive is an innovative way of solving waste management challenges, saying that they met an inefficient waste management system in the State when they arrived the State in 2016, stressing that they target to convert Ogbunike as a waste recycling hub.
The Commissioner for Environment, Architect Mike Okonkwo said that the move is a lasting solution to waste management problem in the State.
The MOU signing was highpoint of the event.
