A coaster bus conveying over thirty women and children to their hometown in Ebonyi State for prayer meeting yesterday went into flame with all passengers trapped in the bus.
Correspondent, Faith Onyemuche, reports that the accident occurred along Innosi Onira/Borromeow Roundabout along Enugu Onitsha Express way Onitsha
Narrating their ordeal, one of the passengers who were later rescued , Mrs. Virginia Ogbuogwu said she was sitting besides the driver when she suddenly noticed he was feeling uncomfortable after stopping at intervals and checking the dash board and on seeing smoke from the bus without saying a word to the passengers he took to his heels.
In their separate speeches, Mrs. Paulina Una and Mrs. Ijeoma Alo who sustained different degrees of injuries said the incidence occurred within a twinkle of an eye as they could not retrieve their valuables.
The women collectively poured their heartfelt appreciation to one Mr. Ifechukwuneme Okoye for coming to their rescue.
In his reaction, Mr. Okoye who said he was standing by the road when he noticed one of the women through the glass calling for help, said that he quickly ran to the scene, broke the glasses with his hands and rescued them.
The women who were in shock at the happenings appreciated God for saving their lives .
While announcing that no life was lost, they listed their losses to include food items, cash, phones , among others.
As at the time of filling this report, the driver who was said to have been crying profusely, could no longer be found.
