The out-going Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka Professor Joseph Ahaneku says the recent recruitment into the University was aimed at balancing what he called top heavy staff situation in which the University had more of Professors and Senior staff without corresponding lower staff strength.

Professor Ahaneku who was delivering his valedictory speech at the Faculty of Law of the University said that the faculty had over the years proved itself an academic force to reckon with both within and outside the country.

He stated that the present University’s Deputy Vice Chancellor in-charge of Administration, Professor Carol Arinze-Umobi who he said had maintained high performance profile and Professor Ken Nwogu who he appointed the University Orator and Director of Special Projects are both from the Faculty of Law.

The Vice Chancellor equally paid glowing tribute to the Dean faculty of Law of the University, Professor Meshack Umenweke, for his efforts to take the faculty to greater heights calling for its sustenance.

Earlier, the Dean Faculty of Law, Professor Umenweke noted that though the outgoing Vice Chancellor worked silently, he recorded landmark achievements and succeeded in the last five years in attracting outside funds and Agencies to uplift the University.

The Anambra State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr Uju Nwogu, Professor Ofo Amucheazi SAN, Professor Ogugua Ikpeze, Professor Chika Ifemeje and Reverend Father Ikenga Oraegbunam, a Doctor of law, among others attended the ceremony.
