Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency in collaboration with Saving One Million Lives programme has carried out an immunization outreach to hard-to-reach areas in the state.
The immunization is for children from zero to five years as well as pregnant women across the State.
The Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr Chioma Ezenyimulu, who disclosed this in an interview in Awka, added that pregnant women received two doses of Tetanus Diphtheria injection during the outreach programme.
She explained that the outreach was to ensure that children below five years and pregnant women in hard-to-reach areas are immunized against killer diseases.
Dr Ezenyimulu, said that the core function of her agency is to ensure that immunization status of children from five years and pregnant women in the State will be up-to-date.
She explained that immunization helps in boosting the immune system of children as well as pregnant women in addition to reducing mortality and morbidity rate among children and pregnant women.
The Executive Secretary stressed that immunization is the safest and easiest way of eradicating and reducing childhood killer diseases.
She urged Nursing mothers to always take their eligible children to any Primary Health Care Centre nearest to them for immunization.
