A non profit organisation known as Whiapering Hope Africa Initiative has advocated for the promotion of African traditional attire in the present day fashion.

They stated this when they paid a courtesy visit to the Managing Director and Chief Executive officer of the Ananbra Broadcasting Service chief Uche Nworah, at his office, at the station’s corporate head office in Awka.

The visit was in line with this year’s Children’s day celebration.

The group was led by their co ordinator Mrs Nkechi Udegboka ,as they displayed items made by some children being trained on how to create a touch of African traditional attire in English clothing like polo.

Also in display were ear rings, necklaces, bangles all made with ankara materials by the youths.

Presenting a pillow of ABS logo designed with ankara material to chief Nworah, the leader of the team Mrs Udegboka said that the youths are being trained by a non governmental organisation who deemed it necessary to rekindle the interest of the youths in their roots through their dressing.

She said that they are interested in catching them young as they fish them out from rural communities to expose them to the world of arts.

Mrs Udegboka solicited for support from ndi jgbo both at home and in the diaspora to help them spread until their aim is achieved.

Receiving the group, chief Nworah appreciated them for the initiative which he said will go a long way in reshaping the dress code of the younger generations.

He said that the initiative is a sure way of identifying Africans any where in the world.

Contributing the Head Information Technology ABS Mr Ugochukwu Afoekelu, urged them not to relent but to continue with the task until the targeted individuals are reached.
