The Anambra state Primary Healthcare Development Agency is taking steps to further strengthen partnership with the Anambra state Association of Town Unions, ASATU to increase support to primary healthcare centres across the state.
The Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr Chioma Ezenyimulu revealed the intention while speaking to the leadership of the Association in Awka, noting that such partnership will help to sustain the efforts of government in revitalizing the primary healthcare centres.
Dr Ezenyimulu noted that the state government has renovated and equipped sixty-three primary healthcare centers, three per local government in the state, stating that there is need for more attention to be paid to that important level of healthcare while urging communities to factor in their primary healthcare centres into the third batch of the twenty million naira community choose your project initiative
In his response, the National President, ASATU, Chief Alex Onukwue urged the agency to always employ health workers as well as security men from host communities through collaboration with the Town Unions.
This, he said, would not only help to select competent hands but would also give the Presidents -General a sense of belonging and commitment to the management and operation of these health centres.
