The Anambra State Science Teachers Association has commended the Anambra State Government for sponsoring award-winning trip to Tunisia in March.
The commendation is contained in a special letter signed by Sir Austin Okeke, Coordinator International, Mathematics Association for Schools, Anambra State and the South East.
According the letter, Governor Willie Obiano authorized the trip and provided all the logistics that enabled Saint Johns Special College, Alor, not only to participate but also to win two bronze medals at an international engineering festival in Monastir, Tunisia.
The students had participated in the Festival of Engineering, Science and Technology (I-FEST), held in Monastir, Tunisia from March 21 to March 27, where they returned home with bronze medals.
The letter said that the participation in the festival created big opportunity for the science teachers and their students to showcase their talents in the field of science.
Leader of the team to the festival, Reverend Father Francis, who is the Manager of the school, explained that children between the ages of eleven and twenty-four were afforded opportunity at the I-Fest to bring innovations into the world of technology.
He said they went with manually made electric inverter and solar panels and that the two innovations were still undergoing further researches.
