Today across the Christendom is Pentecost Sunday.

Pentecost Sunday, celebrated on the seventh Sunday after Easter, is a day Christian faithful commemorate the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ.

Speaking on the significance of the day, the Parish Priest, St. France of Assisi parish, Amikwo Awka, Reverend Father James Nnoruga said that the day also marks the birth of the church, its life and mission to all faithful.

Reverend Father Nnoruga while encouraged Christians to inhale courage and exhale fear, prayed that the Holy Spirit removes all their fears, timidity, anxiety, falsehood and fill them with courage to bear witness as instruments of peace, unity and oneness.

He noted that God, who totally gave his church to the world and filled some men with the Holy Spirit, gave them the ability to speak and understand the language of people they would minister to.
