The Chaplain of Divine Mercy Chaplaincy, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Amaku Awka, Reverend Father Justine Ezechukwu, has called on Christians to always seek the spiritual gifts of Holy Spirit.

He made the call in a homily during a mass to mark the Feast of Pentecost.

Reverend Father Ezechukwu, said that the Pentecost Sunday is celebrated to commemorate the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and otherfollowers of Jesus Christ during the Pentecost Day.

He charged the church to always pray hard and receive spiritual gifts of the Holy Spirit such as love, wisdom, generosity, self control among others, so as to please God and deviate from the sinful nature of man.

Similarly, at the Chapel of the Holy Spirit, Paul University Awka, the Curate of the Church, Reverend Jeff Udochukwu who spoke on the theme “empowered to empower” charged Christians to always remain peaceful and live in unity as the disciples of Jesus was when the Holy Spirit visited them on the day of Pentecost.

Also, at Saint Stephen’s Parish Church Agulu, the Vicar of the Church, Venerable Silas Ike who noted that the Feast of Pentecost also commemorates the official inauguration of the Christian Church by the apostolic preaching of Saint Peter implored all to love and forgive as God has loved and forgave mankind.

He regretted that the world of today is often fiercely judgmental and vengeful.

The Priest, however, pointed out some of the work of the Holy Spirit to include developing intimacy with God, teaching Christians how to pray and enlighten, guide, and sanctify those who believe in God.
