The Head Department of Cooperatives in the Anambra State Ministry of Trade and Commerce, Mrs. Nwabugo Okonkwo says there exist over fourteen thousand cooperative Societies across the State.

Mrs. Okonkwo made this known while handing over documents of cooperative to the newly elected officers of the Bicycle Spare Parts Traders Multipurpose Market Ogbunike in Oyi Local Government Area at the Jerome Udorji Secretariat Complex in Awka.

Handing over the documents, Mrs. Okonkwo charged the newly elected officers of the market to run a transparent and all inclusive administration that will give all their members the opportunity to
participate in their daily activities.

She charged them to operate within the ambits of the law guiding cooperatives in the state, and urged Ndi Anambra who are ready to form cooperatives to do so in order to benefit from the State government’s series of interventions to the cooperative society.

The Special Assistant to the Governor on Market Affairs, Mr. Sunday Nwasah also advised the newly elected Market executive to run an open door policy and ensure that there is peace and unity in the Market.

Responding on behalf of the new executive, the Chairman of the Market, Mr. Emmanuel Anyaegbunam promised to carry everybody along in addition to running an open door policy that will be beneficial to all.
