As Ndi Anambra join the International Community today to mark this year’s International Father’s Day, the speaker of the state House of Assembly, Honourable Uchenna Okafor has described fathers as the highest gift of God to the family in view of their protective potential.
In his goodwill message to mark the day, Honourable Okafor noted that the role of fathers transcends beyond provision of the needs of the family to enforcement of good moral as well as guarantee safety of the entire family members.
The Speaker, who extolled the contributions of fathers to the peace and progress of their families and the larger society, urged them to always protect and promote the image of their families through good conduct.
He charged them to shun acts capable of debasing fatherhood such as drunkenness, adultery, and corruption among other vices.
Honourable Okafor, while wishing fathers in the state a happy Father’s day celebration, enjoined mothers to complement the efforts of fathers in breeding responsible families.
Meanwhile, Honourable Okafor has assured that the state House of Assembly will continue to enact laws and resolutions aimed at providing a better future for children in the state as they join their counterparts world over today to celebrate this year’s International Day of the African Child.
