World Music Day observed on 21st June every year aims at promoting
peace and harmony across the globe, as well as recognizes the impact
of music in the world and the human spirit.

Every culture of the world has it’s own distinct and unique form
of music.

Some songs have the ability of lifting people out of depression, sorry
state and taking them on a beautiful journey down the memory lane.

Speaking on the essence of the day, a teacher at Community Secondary
School Okpuno, Awka South Council ar6ea, Mrs. Amaka Eze while
acknowledging the power of change which is in music, observed that
some of the  present day musicians could no longer use their musical
talents to effect positive change on the society as was done by their
predecessors like Bob  Marley, King Sunny Ade, Onyeka Onwenu, Chief Morocco Maduka ,
Osadebe, Chika Okpala, and a host of others who according to her
impacted positively through music.

On his part, a popular Gospel Artist, Brother Abraham Edozie who spoke
through a telephone interview, encouraged upcoming artists to imbibe
the spirit of humility, get themselves a mentor, and above all ensure
they are musically talented in order to last in the industry.

While identifying piracy as one of the major challenges facing
musicians in this part of the world, Brother Edozie called on
government at all levels to device means of assisting and encouraging
the artists as according to him they are one of the major tools for
societal development.

Contributing, the Choir Master, St. Theresa’s Catholic Church Nibo,
Mr. Anthony Nwobu recommended music for sorrowful and depressed
hearts, saying that it is a Therapeutic language of the soul that has
the power to make someone forget his problems for a better tomorrow.
