The Wife of the Governor of Anambra State Dr. Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano
has been commended for her passion for the widows.
The Member representing Onitsha South Constituency Two in the State
House of Assembly, Mrs Beverly Nkemdiche Ikpeazu gave the commendation while speaking on the significance of the International Widows Day.
The Lawmaker noted that Dr Mrs Obiano has built houses for many
widows, trained some in basic skills and equipped them, adding that
she had keyed into the project as she has focused in alleviating the plights of widows in Onitsha South Two Constituency, through her
constituency projects.
Mrs Nkemdiche-Ikpeazu regretted the difficulty many widows are passing
through and called for concerted efforts to protect them.
The Lawmaker stated that International Widow’s day is aimed at
creating awareness on the violation of human rights which widows
suffer in many countries following the death of their spouses.
