In other to properly develop and have a robust fish industry in Anambra State , stakeholders have met to discuss challenges and map out way forward to achieve the objectives.

The stakeholders meeting held in Awka, had in attendance critical stakeholders in the fish industry, including the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra state Fisheries and Aquaculture
Business Development Agency, Mr. Emeka Iloghalu, who  said  that the meeting was held to elect a pioneer and substantive President for the Aquaculture Value Chain and Innovation Platform for Anambra state, which will help pilot the activities of the Agency to achieve set goals.

Mr. Iloghalu pointed out that to have a private sector  organized  fish industry, which will enable the state reap bountifully from the opportunities abound in the fish business, there should  be  a private sector driven and government supported body and called on dealers in fish business to register with the agency.

The pioneer President of Aquaculture Value Chain and Innovation Platform for Anambra state, Mr. Christian Emeka, appreciated the government of the state for it’s support in growing the state fish
industry and said all hands  should  be on deck to make sure the industry becomes robust in Anambra.

A member of the group, Mrs. Oby Ifemeka, noted that for fish business
to grow in the state, a market should be created for producers to sell their stocks, which will encourage fish farmers and make it lucrative enough for people to join the business and help solve the unemployment challenge in the country.
