Commuters in Awka, Ekwulobia, Umunze and other parts of the state are having it good nowadays,  following the attack launched on pot holes by the Anambra State Road Maintenance Agency, ARMA.

A tour round major streets in all the  communities by our Works Correspondent Ngozi Obileri confirmed that the operation zero pot holes declared by Governor Willie Obiano is yielding positive results.

Road among numerous others in Awka capital, no longer battle with potholes as men of the Anambra State Road Maintenance Agency are working day and night to fill them.

Speaking on the development, the Managing Director Anambra State Road
Maintenance Agency, Engineer Emeka Okoye, said that the Agency was given a mandate by Governor Obiano to ensure that there are no pot holes on the roads in the state.

Engineer Okoye noted that his men are out on all the affected roads, filling the pot holes especially now the that rains are here, as according to him, these roads tend to fail during the rainy season.

He said that they no longer focus on maintenance but can comfortably
reconstruct dilapidated or failed road and can even do a standard construction with the equipment made available to them by the state government.

Engineer Okoye  maintained that road maintenance has been an ongoing
thing in Anambra and will continue as government is determined to
sustain the tempo so that  Anambra would remain the best in terms of
road infrastructure.

Reacting to the development , a resident of Okpuno, Mr. Tagbo Obi, applauded government for having the interest of the masses at heart by creating the agency as he said that access roads is one of the  fundamental needs  of the citizens.

Mr. Tagbo encouraged men of the Road Maintenance Agency not to relent,
but to continue in their quest of making the state roads motorable.
