Anambra State government will today honour two of her citizens for
wining National and International awards.
A statement by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr C. Don Adinuba, says Governor Willie Obiano will personally lead the honour to underscore the importance which the
state government attaches to excellent service.
The award winners are Dr Nkechi Udeze, Director of the Anambra State
Library Board, and Mr Alban Anonyuo, Chief Executive officer of the
Renewed Initiative Against Diseases and Poverty.
It would be recalled that the Anambra State Library Board has just been named the winner of the first prize of the 2018 Nigeria Library Association in the Public Library category while Mr Anonyuo last month received the United States President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief Heroes Award.
According to a statement by the Secretary of the Nigeria Library Association, Mr Atsenokhar Omoh, Dr Udeze will be decorated with her award at the end of this month in Warri, Delta State,.
Mr Anonyuo’s award was given to him on June tenth in Abuja by the American Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Stuart Symington, on the occasion marking President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief Heroes Award’s fifteenth year anniversary.
Mr Anonyuo is the first Nigerian to win the award and one of the only
ten across the globe to receive the honour.
The Federal Government, through the National Agency for the Control of
AIDS, NACA held a reception last week in Abuja for Mr Anonyuo for the
award.
Mr Anonyuo who hails from Ihiala has been working for the past nineteen years to end the HIV/HIV pandemic in Nigeria and has been offering free consultancy services to the Anambra State AIDS Control Agency ANSACA.
