of Awka Diocese, Right Reverend Alexander Ibezim and the President of
the Conference,  Mrs Martha Ibezim  visited  the community for the
Thirty Third Awka Diocesan Women’s Conference.

The conference holding at Immanuel Anglican Church Ukwulu has its
theme as “hold fast to what you have till I come”.

Awka Diocesan Women’s Conference is an annual  event for  the women to  evaluate
their performances for the past year and chart  ways for more development and progress in the women ministry.

Addressing the gathering, the Wife of the State Governor, Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano asked the women to be light to all around them as the family is the first call to duty entrusted to them by God.

The Governor’s Wife represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the
Governor on Special Duties, Mrs Amaka Ezike said in a time like this, mothers should maintain a closer  relationship with their children  and ensure they guild  their actions lamenting the ugly behavior of some youths who commit suicide.

Earlier in a sermon, Bishop Ibezim encouraged the women to be alive
to their family responsibilities, noting  that such conference would help them to re-identify their place in the family.

Bishop Ibezim stated that the theme was carefully chosen to expose
people to what is expected of them by God, advising them to distance themselves from characters of the biblical Jezebel, idolatry, fornication and hold on to their faith.

The President of the conference Mrs Martha Ibezim said the conference
aims at bringing the women together, look at how far they have gone in
discharging  their duties at home and Parishes, reminding them that the theme of the conference expected them to be strong even in the midst of challenges.

Also speaking,  the Vicar of the host church, Reverend Canon Bernard Obiekwe and the chairman, Local Organizing Committee, Sir Ephraim Uzoechina, the gathering was an opportunity for spiritual growth for all women in the Diocese, in addition to raising of funds for development project of the women Ministry of the Diocese.
