In response to Governor Willie Obiano’s think home philosophy, Anambra
Irish Professionals Association, Ireland has trained ninety three Anambra youths on Information Communication Technology.


The programme which held in Awka is an annual event of the Association
in Anambra State. Correspondent, The youths who were drawn from the twenty one local government areas of the state acquired basic knowledge in computer packages.


Addressing the youths, the Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy, Mr Afam Mbanefo who welcomed the initiative, revealed that the Obiano administration is working towards building Anambra State Creative ICT hub that will practically develop
technology skills of Anambra youths for them to be self employed.


He assured that the State Government will take up the programme where
the Anambra State Irish Association stops in order to achieve their set goals.


He called on Anambra Associations in the Diaspora to imbibe think home philosophy of Governor Obiano.
The Chairman Anambra, Irish Professionals Association, Ireland, Sir
Paul Uzoh explained that the programme is an avenue they use to give
their wealth of knowledge to the people in line with Governor Obiano’s think home philosophy.


Sir Uzoh who stated that Anambra Irish Professionals is a group of professionals from different backgrounds that serve as link between Ireland and Nigeria, especially Anambra State will also hold free Medicare for Ndi Anambra at Nkpor, Abatete and Ekwusigo this week.


The Director, Free Medical Outreach of the Association, Reverend Father Hyacinth Nwakauna added that the free computer training they organized for the youths will help eradicate poverty and make them employers of labour.


In an interview, some of the youths, Mr Uchenna Nwankwo and Miss
Favour Okoye expressed joy that the programme has afforded them the
opportunity to learn the basic steps in creating a web site.
