Three persons were yesterday feared dead and many others injured, including a police officer, as members of the Shiite Movement took their ” free Zakzaky protest”, to the National Assembly.

Some cars were burnt and others were destroyed, in the crisis that followed the besieging of the National Assembly.

Ekwi Ajide of our Abuja Bureau, reports that the protest hitherto peaceful took another dimension when the protesters allegedly engaged security officials at the National Assembly in a duel.

According to an eye witness, Miss Amina Bello, the protesters over powered the security personnel at the gate as they came numbering over three thousand, with some of them scaling the fence to gain entry.

Commenting on the attack, some workers, including Yahaya Usman, Ifunanya Obi and Abraham Samuel, condemned the violent trend, saying that the group might lose the sympathy of Nigerians which they had been enjoying till now.

They reasoned that if they had been able to penetrate the National Assembly, it would have been a big dent on security in Nigeria.
