The Commissioner for Public Utilities, Engineer Emeka Ezenwanne in company of some staff of the Ministry,  have  embarked on facility tour  of  some water projects in Onitsha, Nnewi and Ihiala. 
The tour was for the new Commissioner, Engineer Ezenwanne to inspect condition of the facilities   and identify areas of  intervention at   the water schemes in the state. 

The site visited were, Raw Water Upper Intake, Nkpor, Greater Onitsha Water Scheme and, Twenty Million Liter Water Tank, Army Barracks Onitsha, Others include GRA Borehole Treatment Plant, Onitsha, Ogidi and Obosi water scheme and Nnewi Water Corporation. The Commissioner  while inspecting  the Water Scheme at  Onitsha , discovered  that some people have encroached on  the land and  vandalized all the major  equipment that made the water scheme functional.


Speaking to newsmen shortly after the inspection, Commissioner  Ezenwanne said the essence was to see things for himself as Governor  Willie Obiano  designed a comprehensive water master plan to ensure that Ndi Anambra have  portable water. 
He stated that the projects will receive a desired interventions to restor water supply to encourage   people to take ownership of the facility , warning  that those who encroached into the land will face the full wrath of the law.
The Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Revered Dr Polycap Amanzechukwu said the visit was apt and disclosed government  plan  to fence all  government projects  to stop people from encroaching on them. 
Also speaking, the Acting Director, Water Resources Department of the Ministry, Mr. Victor Ezekwuo said  the state will soon have  sustainable water supply  through the Governor’s blue print on water and  sanitation. 

It would be recalled that the state government through the Ministry has completed a lot of  electrification  projects including  installation of   streets lights  on many roads  and has  now expanded  the policy thrust  to water to ensure that Ndi Anambra have access to  good pipe borne water.
