Secretaries to State governments, Heads and Permanent Secretaries of Cabinet Affairs offices in the South East Geo-Political Zone have concluded a one day meeting with a resolve to further deepen synergy among themselves.

The meeting hosted by Anambra State government in collaboration with the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation was held at the Agulu Lake Golden Tulip Hotel in Anaocha Council Area.

In a goodwill message, Secretary to Anambra State government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu said the meeting is an opportunity for cross fertilization of ideas in the area of policy making and tracking of decisions and policies of the State Councils.

Professor Chukwulobelu emphasized that Governor Obiano had always supported them with the needed political will and funding as Seventy percent of their annual budget is implemented due to the importance of what they do, and urged the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to help states develop capacity by extending their training opportunities to staff of the cabinet offices for effective delivery of their mandate.

Also speaking , the Secretary to the Government of Imo State, Chief Uche Onyeguocha commended the initiative, noting that it will promote the socio-economic activities in the South East and called for its sustenance.

In a goodwill message, the Director General, South East Governor’s Forum Secretariat, Professor Simon Ortuanya, described the South East Governor’s Forum as a platform to develop the region, foster regional integration and economic growth, expressing optimism that through such interaction sustainable deliberations and resolutions will be reached to ensure efficiency and stability in government.

Governor Willie Obiano was represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr Nkem Okeke who declared the meeting open, while the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, Mrs. Ifeoma Anagbogu.

Head of Service, Barrister Harry Udu, Commissioner for Budget, Economic Planning and Development Partners, Mr. Mark Okoye, representatives of SSGs of Ebonyi and Abia States among other stakeholders at the Cabinet Affairs Offices of the region, attended the event which featured strategic technical sessions.
