The Commissioner for Basic Education Professor Kate Omenugha has presented set of books to Miss Veronica Nnalue, SS3 Final year student of Saint John of God Secondary School Awka, for coming tops in National Essay Competition organized by Civil Resource Development Documentation Center CIRDDOC, Enugu in conjunction with Eastern Nongovernmental organizations.
The presentation ceremony had in attendance the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Basic Education Mr. Nwabueze Nwankwo, Chief Patrick Ugboaja, Chairman ASUBEB, Mr Ray Offor, Director of Schools, Mrs. Vera Ogbalu, Acting Director Educational Services, Vice Principal Saint John of God Secondary school Mrs. Ngozi Onwujekwe among others.
Commissioner Omenugha while congratulating Miss Nnalue, said it is always a thing of Joy to see young people working hard to excel in both learning and character.
She urged her to avoid bad peer group influence and embrace reading as knowledge will help her to maintain the pride of womanhood.
Earlier in her introduction of the winner, Mrs. Vera Ogbalu, Acting Director Educational Services, said miss Veronica Nnalue, competed with students from nine states, in Essay Competition on “, Sexual Reproductive health rights are human rights”, and came first.
The Vice Principal , St John of God Secondary School, Mrs. Ngozi Onwujekwe in her remarks said Miss Veronica Nnalue who is the Senior Prefect of the school has been exemplary both in character and learning.
Responding, Miss Nnalue expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Basic Education and Governor Willie Obiano, for honoring her, and promised to do more in the future to encourage her peers to maintain the dignity of womanhood.
It would be recalled that on fifteenth of March 2019, Miss Veronica Nnalue SS3 Final year student, participated in Essay Competition organized by Civil Resource Development Documentation Center CIRDDOC Enugu in conjunction with Eastern Nongovernmental organizations involving nine states in the country.
She received laptop, cash prizes and letter of commendation.
