Police operatives attached to the Operations Puff Adder of the State
Police Command in conjunction with Special Anti Cult unit have
arrested ninety suspected cultists in various locations of the State
in continuation of its Raids on their hideouts and black spots.
According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations
Officer, SP Mohammed Haruna said that six suspected cultists arrested
at Obosi axis and another six arrested at Ogidi while fifteen suspects
were arrested at Ihiala axis.
The statement stated that twelve suspects were arrested in Awka,
fifteen arrested at Nsugbe, twelve arrested at Oko, eighteen arrested
at Onitsha axis and six suspects were arrested at Igbariam and Awkuzu
axis, respectively.
It explained that out of the total number of ninety suspects arrested,
twenty-eight were screened out, fifteen suspects were charged to
court, twelve suspects were placed under police supervision for being
under aged, while thirty-five others are undergoing investigation.
The statement said exhibits recovered from the suspects includes six
machetes, three daggers, one black beret and some quantities of weeds
suspected to be cannabis sativa.
