Governor Willie Obiano says his government will continue to synergize with nongovernmental organizations in promoting the Igbo culture and tradition.
The Governor stated this when a delegation of the Igboezue International Association of Nigeria and in Diaspora, paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Awka.


Correspondent, Emmanuel Okonkwo  reports that Governor Obiano represented by his Deputy, Dr. Nkem Okeke commended the group for striving to keep alive the norms and traditions of Ndigbo and assured them of the support of the present administration.


Speaking earlier, the National President of Igboezue International Association of Nigeria and in Diaspora, Mr. Pius Okoye while describing the group as a non-political, and a socio-cultural organization whose responsibility is to recover Igbo lost glory in the country and beyond, called on Igbo parents and guardians to learn to teach their children and wards Igbo language and culture at home as a way of saving them from going into extinction.


Mr. Okoye identified lack of unity amongst Ndi Igbo as the major problem of the tribe, pointing out that if the tribe could learn to love each other irrespective of religion or political affiliation, they will achieve their collective goals, and take their rightful position in Nigeria.
He commended Governor Obiano on his quality leadership style which according to him is evident in his good works in the state, and solicited for the recognition and support of the administration to the organization.
In a remark, the state Secretary of the Association, Chief Vincent Chukwura thanked the Governor for the worm reception accorded them, assuring him of the unflinching support of the group.


Also speaking, the Traditional Ruler of Owoahiafo community in Obingwa local government area of Abia state, who is the National Patron of the Association, Eze Amadi Azuogu called on Ndi Igbo to imbibe the spirit of brotherhood, and value their culture and traditions as their pride and identity.
