Anambra State Police Command has restated its commitment to ensuring the protection of lives, property and peaceful coexistence of Ndi Anambra.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. John Abang gave the assurance during his on the spot assessment of the site of the communal clash between the people of Omor and Igbakwu communities in Ayamelum local government area.

While addressing the press shortly after assessing the site, Mr. Abang advised the parties involved to resolve the issue lawfully, and called for the collaboration of the stakeholders in communities in achieving and sustaining the state governments goal towards security.

Welcoming the Commissioner at the palace of the traditional ruler of Omor community, the traditional rulers of the two communities, Igwe Chris Chidiume of Omor and his Igbakwu counterpart, Igwe, Professor Onuora Nwuneri who appreciated the input of the Commissioner in addressing the issue assured to resolve the matter without any further crisis.
In their separate remarks, the Transition Committee chairman, Ayamelum Local Government Area Mr. Benjamin Onyeabo and a stakeholder in Omor community, and a onetime Chief Judge of Anambra State, Justice Paul Obidigwe commended the police for its prompt response on the day the incident occurred and assured of resolving the matter amicably.

It would be recalled that the communal clash between Umuali Akanator kindred of Omor and Ereato kindred of Igbakwu over a piece of land landed many in the hospital as well as led to burning and destruction of houses and other property worth millions of naira on
thirteenth July 2019.
