Farm inputs including lime for land enrichment worth hundreds of thousands of naira have been freely distributed to forty-six cooperative societies across the state.
The gesture powered by the state Community Farm Development Program, took place at the Agricultural Development Programme, ADP, office in Awka.


Agric correspondent, Ebele Ezeh reports that while distributing the inputs, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Farm Development Programme, Mrs. Theresa Okoye announced that each co-operative society is entitled to one certified farrow forty-four seed rice, organic and inorganic fertilizers.
Receiving the inputs on behalf of UNIZIK Agric students, the Vice President, National Association of Fishery Students UNIZIK branch, Miss Grace Oguine expresses joy noting that the items will greatly boost their school integrated farming as well as exposing them to the practical activities of what they are studying.
She appealed to government at all levels to assist school farms to achieve food security.
In her reaction, the chairperson, Umunachi Farmers Co-operative, Iyo, Nkem Umeadi who thanked Governor Willie Obiano for assisting her achieve her goal of coming home after twenty-five years abroad announced that she has more than fifty varieties of corps and seedlings which are doing pretty well in her farm.
