Speaking on the elaborate event, the wife the Governor and Chief Host, Dr. Mrs Obiano said that the Mothers’ Summit has over time become a veritable platform for the exchange of ideas and celebration of our women folks. We have done it for over four years now and I thought it fitting to have an exemplary mother and the wife of the Vice President join us as we deliberate and recognize our hard working daughters and achievers.
“I am very proud of our women who toil every day to ensure that our future is secure. If you look around every sector you will find a proud Anambra daughter excelling. We therefore decided to start the process of recognizing them as a way of appreciation and encouraging the budding ones to aspire and excel. Moreover, we will also empower various women groups. “
Explaining further the programmes of 2019 Mothers’ Summit, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue whose Ministry is collaborating and organizing the event in collaboration with the Wife of the Governor said that the theme of this year’s Summit is Promoting Gender Balance and Social Values. It will guide the discussion led by a keynote speaker.
There will also be match past by women from the twenty-one Local Governments Areas and display of handmade products and crops from their farms. We have no doubt that the event will be a success. She averred.
The annual Mothers’ Summit brings together Anambra women to deliberate on issues of common interest to women in the evolving demands of modernity. It seeks to arouse the interest of women in community development and also sets agenda for the yearly August Meetings in the various communities across the state.
