Eighteen Anambra women have been given outstanding awards by Governor
Willie Obiano.
The Governor presented the awards at the instance of his wife, Dr
Ebelechukwu Obiano, shortly after flagging off the 2019 Mothers’
Summit at the Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka.
Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that the Awards were presented to Wife of Nigeria’s former President, Professor
Uche Azikiwe, first female Governor of Anambra State, Dame Virgy
Etiaba, Anambra State Chief Judge, Justice Ijem Onwuamaegbu.
Others include former Minister of Women Affairs, Chief Josephine
Anenih, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs, Dr. Ifeoma
Anigbogu, Chimamanda Adichie and twelve others.
Governor Obiano stressed that he has given greater percentage of women
opportunity in his administration, noting that giving women a chance
has positive multiplier effects and gives thesociety a chance to greatness.
Governor Obiano described women as beacon of light and commended the great potential of Anambra women and asked them to do more.
Governor Obiano who announced that the Central Bank of Nigeria has
approved three point five billion naira loan to agro farmers, said
that sixty percent of the money will go to women in Anambra.
He took time to reel out some of his achievements within his short
period in office, adding that the fund for the third phase of the
Community choose your project initiative is now available and the disbursement
will start later this year, describing it as the fastest way to stimulate and promote rural economy.
Notable dignitaries from within and outside the State attended the event.
