The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Awka Capital
Territory Development Authority Venerable Amaechi Okwuosa says the
Obiano administration places high premium on security of life and property.

He stated this when he led his team on a visit to Nzekwe Nze Street in Awka where flood destroyed some buildings.

Speaking to the ABS shortly after the visit, Venerable Okwuosa said that it was disheartening that some developers erect structures on waterways, which he noted causes havoc whenever it rains and assured that the agency is determined to rid the city of all forms of illegal structures.

Venerable Okwuosa who noted that human life is more important than
structures advised land developers in Awka to always obtain approvals
before engaging in building construction.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Awka Capital
Territory Development Authority who revealed that some buildings in the area are between ten and twenty years, maintained that all the buildings and structures marked either for demolition or adjustment by the agency must be removed by their owners, adding that anyone who violates the order will be prosecuted and the Agency will remove such structure at his or her own expense.

One of the residents of the Area, Mr Obiorah Chijioke thanked the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority and his team for coming to their rescue, regretting that most landlords erect structures indiscriminately and without approvals in a quest to make quick money.
